SAM ULEY

It was hard being the first. It was like being the oldest child all over again. You were the test - the guinea pig. You stumbled through the world blindly without any one else to help. When it had first happened, he wondered if he was the only one. Sure, he'd paid attention to those old "myths". People turning into wolves... that was something one saw on the TV screen of a horror movie, not in their own life. The Elders offered no advice; no one knew if it was just a phase, or something he would have to deal with his entire life. This time there was no director shouting "Cut".

It was one of those rare moments when he was alone. School had just ended, and thus Paul and Jared were still getting out. His brown eyes glanced around him as he walked down the sidewalk. It was still in the early weeks of school - fall, the crumpled red leaves lining the streets and pavement. The trees were beginning to bare, going out with a brilliant bang of an array of musky colors. Frigid air already was starting to blow through the town of La Push. Of course; so near to the ocean, the temperature was already dropping significantly. His large hands were shoved into his pockets, his neck bent and his black hair gliding back over his broad shoulders. His face was a mask, expressionless as he thought. He was cautious about leaving the two alone - especially Paul, as a new wolf - though he supposed they should be granted some independence. Even through these new situations, he couldn't always be breathing down their necks. After all, he might always not be here, would he?

As fate would have it, he wasn't the only one to suffer. He had never really known Jared, before this. They had bonded over their same ability to phase into huge, hairy monsters. And then came Paul, a person that he had always attempted to avoid. But - it was a new feeling, having everyone looking up to him for advice. He found it natural, the unspoken Alpha. Though he thought of himself more as a "fathering" figure, a protector. He had taken it upon himself to help them. Though really, how could he not? No one had been there for him. No one had helped him control his temper, or guide him away from those he loved. No one had been there to help him protect Emily... or Leah.

He tried not to dwell on the second of those names often. The dog wasn't heartless. How could he possibly be happy when he himself had crushed someone else? Often he cursed himself for the horrible instinct to imprint. He had spent long whiles pondering why. Was there really one person out there for everyone? Wolves didn't mate for life. It must have something to do with one's genetic potential? He loved Emily. That was entirely obvious. Even at first glance he was drawn to her. He wasn't sure what it was, but the dog knew that he would readily sacrifice his life for her. But did he love Leah? He knew he couldn't - his body wouldn't allow - love her now. But did he, before then? Before Emily came? That's what wounded him so much. He wasn't sure if he had loved her, and he wasn't sure if she loved him. Though perhaps he was just being conceited. Maybe... maybe she would find someone else. Someone better. Someone who couldn't help turning into a vicious wolf, someone who had no secrets, someone who wouldn't go and fall in love with her cousin.

A sigh drifted as fog from his nostrils, the young man's eyes briefly fluttering closed. Everything could have been so perfect. But having a perfect life just was impossible for him, wasn't it? Being a wolf had its share of perks, but they were drown out by its share of downfalls. He couldn't talk to anyone. He couldn't risk being around anyone he loved. He had damaged both of the women he had ever really cared for - one emotionally, one physically. He couldn't just turn his back and ignore that forever. But it was all because of the vampires, wasn't it? That pretty little family down in Forks; he had never suspected that... that they weren't human, either. It did make sense, though. Vampires and werewolves were enemies. The vampires have returned, and the wolves now follow in suit...

[[ Pscht, the moons totally space it out. xD Oh well; I think they look cool. -shot- ]]

((Ren said I could just post Emily's intro here, so, here I go.) It's horrible though...)

Emily Young, the wolf girl. Yes, the wolf girl. How did she get the nickname wolf girl? She's engaged to a human, who turns into a werewolf. Her two second cousin's Seth and Leah, are also werewolfs. She sighed and looked out the back window of the kitchen as she stood over the sink and washed the dirty dishes.

Yes, she cooked for a pack of werewolfs. The pack? Sam, Jacob, Jared, Paul, Quil, Embry, Colin, Brady, a few other new ones, and her cousins, Seth and Leah. Leah and Emily were /very/ close, considering she was an only child, and her parents were divorced.

Her dad was crazy and never knew what he was doing, so she lived with her mother. Who was never home. That's how Leah and Emily became so close. Now, Emily doesn't consider Leah as close as she did. After what happened with the imprinting deal, Emily has convinced herself that Leah hates her.

Emily shuddered at all of those thoughts. Now, she's engaged to Sam Uley, and they live in La Push. She liked her life a lot, but couldn't help but feel bad for Leah after everything she's been through. Once Emily was finished with washing the dishes, she sighed and leaned against the counter and ran her hand through her long 'raven black,' hair. She traced her hand over her face, feeling the scars.

The scars. They didn't bother Emily at all really. She didn't bother that they tugged at her mouth or pulled one of her eyes down, or that people stared at her face. Looks didn't bother her like they did with normal people. That's one thing that makes her Emily. She walked to the window and looked outside, looking for Sam, wondering if he was with the pack.

She walked to the front door, stepped outside on the porch quickly, to try to see if Sam was any where out there.
